About
The CSLib Initiative is a program of Renaissance Philanthropy. Its mission is to support the growth of the CSLib open-source project, in the same way that the Mathlib Initiative supports Mathlib. The Initiative has active management: a Director, a team of employees and contractors, and a Strategic Advisory Board that helps set direction and priorities.
The CSLib Initiative provides critical resources — funding, staffing, coordination, and strategic focus — that enable the open-source project to grow faster and more sustainably than a volunteer effort alone could. The Initiative aims at supporting and amplifying the work of the CSLib's community and volunteers, by funding formalization efforts, supporting maintainers and reviewers, investing in documentation and educational resources, and coordinating with partners across the Lean ecosystem.
The CSLib Initiative is not to be confused with CSLib itself (the open source project): the two structures are independent. All CSLib outputs financed by the CSLib Initiative are released as open source following the same rules of any voluntary contribution, with no copyright assignment to Renaissance Philanthropy or to the Initiative.
To ensure alignment and make the Initiative effective, the CSLib Initiative coordinates closely with CSLib's governing bodies and incorporates many of CSLib's steering members in its own advisory board.
